Swept up in the aesthetic movement, the well-to-do ladies of the village are captivated by two contrasting poets, each vying for their affections. Yet their adoration is in vain, as both poets have set their hearts on one woman—Patience, the village milkmaid. Unfamiliar with love and preoccupied with her own poetic musings, Patience remains indifferent. However, everything changes when an old childhood friend, now one of the celebrated poets, reappears…
